Rumor of Moonlight

Maybe it was in finding that we could grow apart,
Maybe it was the blinding that come from being to smart
Maybe it was forgetting the day we could call the start.
Maybe it was in planning the play, without listening to our hearts, or maybe,

Maybe it's a rumor, a rumor of moonlight.

Maybe it was the secret as we pretended to be fine,
Maybe it was in being too proud to say that you were mine,
Maybe it was the drying dew, as we tried to race the wine,
Maybe it was when I love you became another practiced line. Or maybe,

Maybe it's a rumor, a rumor of moonlight.

Forgetting was the easy part, I've known the wrong in being right,
And all these wasted tears that weren't hidden by the night,
You know they've got me wondering, if maybe every little kiss,
Didn't start with some lie from you, on a night like this. Or maybe,

Maybe it's a rumor, a rumor of moonlight.
